Who we are:
The Initiative on Standard Of Practice
In Childbirth (ISOPIC) aims to formulate and
contribute to evidence-based practices in childbirth and maternal
health care in Lebanon, as well as to participate in the dissemination
of these practices. The initiative is a collaborative effort by
a team of dedicated practicing obstetricians from various hospitals
and medical centers from all regions in Lebanon.
Our Objectives:
The objective of ISOPIC is to establish a model of best practices
in obstetric care in Lebanon. ISOPIC also aims to operationalize
and help ensure that these standards are adopted and practiced at
a national level.
Our Plan of Action:
ISOPIC is working along the following:
-
Developing an initial core group to standardize antenatal package,
antenatal record, and intrapartum practice protocols
- Inviting more members from different areas of Lebanon to the
ISOPIC membership willing to propagate the objectives of the initiative.
- Promoting evidence- based practices in maternal health through:
accumulating available evidence, research, advocacy, and dissemination.
- "Branding" or "franchising" ISOPIC members'
practices so that their standards of maternal care services are
similar in terms of quality and "women- friendliness".
- Advocating through holding regular meetings and discussions with
various stakeholders and utilizing the media to promote the initiative
and its objective and to help reach women.
